Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the Church. . . . This is a great mystery, and I mean in reference to Christ and the Church. Eph 5:25, 32

“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.” Catechism of the Catholic Church

The parish community of Saint Mark joyfully celebrates the gift of love in the Sacrament of Marriage. Because this Sacrament is Holy Covenant with our loving God, in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City all celebrations of Marriage take place before the Altar in a Church where the Covenant is renewed and remembered at every liturgy.

Marriage Preparation

Before any other arrangements are made, a couple needs to call for an appointment with the Pastor. To set a date and reserve a reception site before meeting with the Pastor invites disappointment and frustration because our facilities may not be available or the Pastor may have scheduled some other event. Please call the Parish Office at 405-366-7676.

One of the persons wishing to celebrate their Marriage at Saint Mark must be a registered member of the parish for at least six months prior to the scheduled wedding. On occasion some who have parents in the parish but have moved away may wish to return “home” for their wedding, and we gladly welcome these children of our parish family. Special arrangements for the formation and preparation may have to be made if the couples are not living nearby.

The Sacrament of Marriage is a public, communal, sacramental celebration of the whole church and the whole parish community. Therefore Saint Mark Church is not used or rented for weddings by persons not registered members of the parish.

This Sacrament may be celebrated on any day or evening of the week except Sunday.

Weddings are not celebrated between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays. There are no exceptions because of the 5:00 pm Liturgy. However, the Sacrament may be celebrated before and after the Saturday Vigil Mass.

Founders Hall is usually available for Wedding Receptions planned well in advance for members of the parish. Please visit our Facilities page for more information.
